Although Indiana has no requirements to get a concealed carry permit you owe it to yourself and others around you to get training if you plan on carrying a gun for personal protection. Just going to your uncle’s farm and shooting pop cans is not good enough. You need to understand the mindset and the legalities behind carrying a firearm. Understanding how to carry and how to present the gun is also a necessity that needs to be taught by a qualified instructor. Modern Defense Tactics has developed the Defensive Pistol Course to handle all of your carry needs and much more.

The Defensive Pistol Course teaches students the knowledge, skills and attitudes essential for avoiding dangerous confrontations and for the safe, effective and responsible use of a concealed pistol for self-defense. Students attending this course must have their own firearm, a quality strong side hip holster that covers the trigger, or a holster purse. In the classroom and out on the range we will cover;

Participants must be law abiding adults at least 21 years old, (or already possess a valid Indiana CCW permit) and must be an experienced shooter (shooters able to show mastery of the basic skills of safe gun handling, shooting a group, and loading ammunition in the firearm) to maximize what can be learned from this course.

Proof of shooting experience can be one of the following: NRA Basic Pistol Course Certificate, NRA First Steps Course Certificate, NRA pistol competitive shooting qualification card, military DD 214 with pistol qualification, or passing the Pre-Course Assessment (see pre-course assessment below).

This course contains the essential skills and techniques needed to prevail in a life-threatening situation.

You will get to practice all of the skills with an unloaded handgun until you are comfortable, then you will progress to live work on the range.

For this class, you will need the following items:

Range - Our range time will consist of a 100 to 200 round course of fire designed to invoke the skills you have acquired during your training. As a Chief Range Safety Officer your safety is very important to me. We follow strict safety protocols in all of our live fire. Remember to dress appropriately.

Pre-Course Assessment

This assessment will take approximately 30 minutes and cost $35. Candidates must be able to show mastery of the basic skills of safe gun handling, shooting a group, and loading ammunition in the firearm. This will take place at the range and must be scheduled in advance of the class.
