"My interest in firearms started when I was 14-years old and my friends father let me shoot his shotgun. It was love at first trigger squeeze. Right from the beginning, I felt I wanted to learn everything and anything about the shooting sports. I went to school the next day and joined Air Force JRROTC. Which I won "Cadet of the Year". At 17 I joined the U.S. Army while still in high school and went to basic training for my 11th grade summer vacation. In the Army I qualified as an Expert Marksmen in Rifle, M-203 Grenade Launcher and other weapons qualification. Later during Desert Shield and Desert Storm the U.S. Army increased the intensity of our training and proficiency in tactical defense to refelect "real world".
Since leaving the Army I found myself attending many different schools and trainings. I went to training facilities around the midwest and took classes in tactical defense, firearms, and survival. All of the training and experience that I received from those classes has been boiled down and separated into what I offer in the classes I teach.
With the changes we seen in the last several years I have condition myself through training to have a different mindset about self / family defense. Many of my friend have noticed this and would ask me "What kind of gun should I get?" and "Can you teach me about firearms and how to shoot?" or "Can you help me with my emergency plan for my family?". It did not take long to figure out that if I was going to train that I need to be certified. That is when I decided to become a NRA Certified Instructor.
If I can give you just one piece of advice it would be whether you train with Family Tactical Training or someone else get trained, get your family trained and continue to train as long as you are going to own a firearm. I seek training all of the time and attend a basic firearm training class every year to ensure I don't lose the fundamentals of shooting. Also join the NRA."
