Defensive Pistol Training gives students advanced skills and mindset to carry and use a handgun for self defense. These programs have also helped the competitive shooter step to the next level.
In this class, students learn to use their handgun safely, quickly, and instinctively as is required in close-range high-speed defensive situations. Students will also learn the legal responsibilities of defensive handgun use.
Class begins with safety and gun handling, drawing and holstering the gun, marksmanship, and multiple engagment responce actions. All malfunction drills will be first learned and the immediate reaction drilled until they are second nature to the student. Particular attention is paid to the correct mind-set required to use the pistol in a defensive encounter. Situational awareness and avoidance skills will also be covered.
This class is held 100% on the range. Students will be shooting from multiple positions.
Equipment needed
Handgun; Your gun must function properly and safely and you must be proficent with the manipulation of all actions with your gun. 22 cal rimfire are not recommended.
Strong Side Holster & Magazine holders with good supporting belt. These devises must have good retention to hold the items while running.
Clothing must be appropriate for weather. Hats or caps are recommended. Don't wear clothes you are afraid to damage. Loose clothes are best since they allow freedom of movement. Sweat pants, slacks, and shorts are not recommended! Hiking or tactical boots are best.
Ammunition; you will need 300 to 400 rounds of reliable ammunition for this class.
Eye and hearing protection are a must for this class
Please bring a sack lunch and water; you may also want to bring a pencil and notebook.
This is not a basic level course. If you have never fired or used a handgun before this is not a course for you.
